Burghfield Area Community Responders (BACR) are a team of volunteers from the Burghfield, Grazeley and Wokefield villages, south of Junction's 11 & 12 of the M4 Motorway in Berkshire.
Our goal is to deliver emergency life support to our area within 4 minutes of a 999 call.
From July 4th 2006 to August 20th 2007,
we have attended 83 calls.
We carry medical backpacks containing oxygen and an Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED) which enables us to attempt to shock a cardiac arrested patient back to life in those vital first 4 minutes and maintain life-support until an ambulance arrives.
We work under mandate of the South Central NHS Ambulance Service (SCAS) and are trained and dispatched by their staff & controllers. BACR itself, is a voluntary organisation that administers the CR-17 kits to our area on a (soon to be) 24 * 7 basis. We rely on donations from the public and business to keep our service operational.
If you'd like to know more about us or are thinking about volunteering in your community...please read on...
Thank you.
Paul Baird - CR-17 Co-ordinator
